Thought it was the gasket, chaged it 4 months ago and saw no change, and ever since I bought the car it has this problem. Can it be sensor or what can it be, even when temp. is hot idling is bad sometimes and sometimes its OK, HOW DO YOU CHECK FOR STORED CODES IN MY 92 525I, M50 ENGINE?Originally Posted by billb
Try replacing your coolant temp. sensor, it may be defective.Originally Posted by juan525i

Check the condition of the oil fill cap, make sure it has a good seal when cold. New one is around $5+.
