    Default Trans Fluid Dipstick?

Does a 1992 525i Auto have such an item? I can't seem to locate it.

    Default No trans dipstick

91 was the last year for the trans dipstick. The level is checked at the filler plug. See the Bentley manual for directions. The fluid is not lifetime fluid.

Default Actually, some of the early 1992 model year 525i's do

have the tranny dipstick. See earlier discussion on the reliability of BMW auto trannys. It was late in the calendar year 1991 that BMW stopped installing the dipstick, and those were 1992 model year 525i's.

It is a long tube towards the firewall end of the engine, on the driver's side. The tube goes down under the engine to the tranny, duh! The cap on the tube, which is also the dipstick, has an arrowhead like design on it. To remove it you need to first push the cap sideways towards the point of the arrowhead, and that should release so that it can be pulled out.
