    Default Battery, Back Seat, Help!

OK, so the last BMW I owned had a battery - in the engine compartment. I know the manual says the battery on my 1992 525i Touring is under the "rear seat cushion", but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to access it. There is plastic cover near the kick panel (passenger side) and under that plastic cover is a nut. Must I remove this nut to release the seat - 'cause that seat ain't moving? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about a Touring, but on my sedan you just grab underneath the cushion and yank like hell and it just pops out. No tricks other than brute force.

    "panel on passenger side"
    No. that ain't it.

Pull up with a short, sharp, yank in the middle of each side of the seat cushion- pull straight up. It'll come up. Until you've done it, you don't know how hard to yank. Once you get the hang it's not hard.

    Welcome to the board.

Thanks guys. I was afraid of damaging something if I yanked to hard. It just didn't seem that this was how to access the battery.
