    Default water pump

How hard is it to pull out the water pump on a 92 525i?

Not hard at all. If you are planning on DIY, I'd suggest getting your hands on a Bentley Repair manual. It will more than pay for itself on this one job alone.

    Here's the procedure:

    1. Disconnect the (-) battery terminal
    2. Drain cooling system (engine cold)
    3. Remove fan clutch assy and fan shroud. note: nut on fan clutch is 32mm and REVERSE threads.
    4. Remove hoses from T-stat housing.
    5. Loosen pulley on water pump.
    6. Remove V belt: pry off dust cap on tensioner, insert a proper size allen head into tensioner and turn clock wise (I think). Make sure you take a pic or draw how the belt was routed before removing.
    7. Remove pulley on the pump.
    8. Remove the 4 mounting bolts.
    9. Take 2 M6 bolts, thread them into the ears on either side of the pump. Slowly and evenly turn the bolts until the pump is drawn out.

    Installation
    1. Use a new O ring. make sure mounting surfaces are clean.
    2. Tighten nuts evenly and alternately until snug. Tighten to spec 10Nm.
    3. The rest is reverse of removal.
    4. Follow proper filling/bleeding procedure.

That was beautiful. Thank you very much. Everything fell out of the water pump, so I am at step five already.
