Default back-up lights still not working!

A few weeks ago I posted for some suggestions on fixing mt 535i for inspection- all that's left to do is the back-up lights- and they still don't work... ugh. Thanks to everyone for the advice... but it is still an unsolved mystery. If Anybody has some further thoughts on this, please let me know. Heres what I've done:
I replaced the tranny back-up switch (attached to the tranny)
I replaced the rear wiring where is is creased in the trunk lid
I replaced all fuses, cleaned all contacts...
used the bulb light test and I do have power coming from the dash to the tranny switch..
and stry enough- it lit up on one of the reverse lights, but not the other.
Is there a ground somewhere I am missing? What is there left to check?
    Thanks everyone!

manual tranny i assume? have you shorted the wires going to the switch together to test if circuit works and the tranny is just not hitting the switch? i ask this because the tranny in my 325ism has lost it's tit or whatever that trips the reverse switch and never activates the lights (i run a dealer plate so a inspection sticker is not a issue) i am going to replace the 190k mile leaky tranny eventually but it still shifts great on redline mtl (mtl cured a slight crunch going into 2nd 40k ago)

Default One more place to look....

    Hi,

Lift up the shifter boot and look inside the foam-filled space there. The wires for the backup lights go through that general region. On my car, one of the two wires was broken right in that vicinity. Can't figure out how that would have happened (perhaps caught in the shifter?) but that's where my problem lay.

    Hope that helps,

    Regards,
    Adnan

    Default check wires in trunk

Check the wires in your trunk, I had a problem similar to your. and I had one license plate light and no reverse lights, So finely what I did was pulled out the cd player and found that the wires to the reverse light and brake lights were broke and needed repaired. So try that first to make sure..
