Canadian Tire doesn't have it? Where are you in GTA?

Geez, there's a spot Mississauga that would have it, but that's far. Why are you using such 0-40W anyway? That's quite a viscosity spread.....

Default it's actually for the M50 engine in my 92 325i.

this is said to resolve the clacking lifters during initial start. everyone has recomended, therefore i thought i would try it out.

Default i am running Mobil1 10W-40. The engine still clacks...

sometimes in the morning.....all the time during the winter mornings. My recomended aproach was to replace the oil pump and screen. I read through forums and noticed a lot of people had this "clack" issue. when they switched to 0W40, the problem went away. This to me seems like a bandaid solution since Bently does not recomend runing this wide a range of viscosity,....but whatever works i guess. it's cheaper to change the oil and filter than to change the oil pump...for people not familiar with the E36, one side of the M50 Engine needs to be lifted to remove the oil pan. what a fun weekend that would be Aye

Default Bentley doesn't suggest it because it wasn't out when the bentley was published.

wasn't trying to be an idiot, bill. when i was there in may, it was easier to get lubromoly vol synthesse than it is to get the 0w40. if i lived there, i might just buy oil from the dealer, m1 is about 30 CDN dollars for less than 5 quarts in a jug, IIRC. walmart canada and canadian tire has the 5w and 10w30 , but pretty much nothing else, was just trying to save him a headache, didn't consider that it was just making noise at startup.
