    Default Alternate Heater core fix

    Go / No-go

Have a tiny leak in my heater core, and Im very tempted at trying one of those coolant additives which are designed to clog holes in leaky radiators. Can people please give ideas, experiences, thoughts etc on doing this.

    The car is a E34 525iA 24V with AC.

    Thanks

i would stay away from fiberglass/clay type stop leaks, they tend to clog the cooling system, whenever we get a car in with that crap i replace the radiator and flush the system clean, just had too many problems with major overheating from that crap
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it

Ditto on additives are bad... if you dont need heat, you can reroute & circumvent the hoses...

Is there an additive that you guys would recommend? I just finished a big repair on my E34 540i and am now having this issue. I would like to put this off for a season if I can. Lighten the blow....any suggestions?

I wouldn't do it. If it's really not that bad you can just not use the heater. Otherwise you can bypass the heater core.

or you could use them big tablets approved to pass through the heater core screens if you pre dissolve them....I wouldnt know ANYTHING about that tho as I am against additives... didnt work good last winter but no steaming on the windshield or antifreeze smell this year.
