Default M60 Diesel Advice on stopping odometer

Looking to buy a cheap run about and saw a 3L diesal M60 with 460000km on the clock.
First off, anything i should look for with a car with so many kms?

So in my country a diesel vehicle has to pay road user taxes and frankly i dont want to.
I saw a few devices, even someone says i could hold down the whipper for 15 seconds, go into mode 3 where you can calibrate the speedo and supposedly it doesn't clock up the odometer.

Im not looking to pass this car on, rather looking for a cheap car with extra cheap gas and a hack so i don't have to pay road user taxes. Well some road user taxes maybe every 100km's the odometer could go up 10km... was wondering if anyone had any advice.

    Thanks

So was looking at coding, im assume its digital.
Not sure which sensor it is yet but im thinking i can slow down the clock speed. So every 100kms i travel the clock only increase 10km's. Should save me alot on road user taxes, and since fuel is so expensive. I have a car that gets to use the cheapers fuel available BMWs aye what cars!

I assume you are talking about an E34 model with M60 engine, the M60 engine is a gasoline engine, not a diesel engine.
The speed signal comes from the sensor at the rear of the differential, that signal goes to the cluster where the EPROM converts the signal and then the speed is shown in the cluster. http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Mainte...eed_sensor.htm
Maybe the cluster EPROM is damaged, easiest is to buy another cluster with same color backplate, there are grey, white and blue and same gas tank volume.
What will break on the car? http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Troubl...will_break.htm

Or do you mean 5 series E60 diesel? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_5_Series_(E60)
    Engine
    Petrol:
    2.0 L N46 I4
    2.2–3.0 L M54/N52/N53 I6
    3.0 L N54 I6 turbo
    4.0–4.8 L N62 V8
    5.0 L S85 V10
    Diesel- turbocharged:
    2.0 L M47/N47 I4
    2.5–3.0 L M57 I6

For the E60 you can get online fault code tools and find faults.
I have no experience with E60, so cannot give advise, but 460000 Km is of course a lot. Maintenance will be expensive, fuel consumption. If you want to have a cheap and reliable car, buy a Japanese one, for example a Toyota Corolla Hatch GX. I would go for the Hybrid version, here the prices of Toyota NZ for that model https://www.toyota.co.nz/new-car/corolla/corolla-hatch/

    Lol a Toyota, nah...
Wasn't about about cheapness, was about making the car worth while to buy.
But i might just get an older model V8 E39.

This E60 sold for more then i wanted to pay and with road user taxes it costs more to run then a petrol.
Was hoping it was a simple tweak, but more trouble then what its worth i think
Sold an hour ago, but thanks for advice.

Now that it's sold I have an idea. Splice wires to the diff sensor and hook up a toggle switch. Not sure of how it would affect the system but would shut the odo and speedo off whenever you want.
