I just ran numbers thru Mercury... For my '90 535i and my '86 325es, liability only, same 100/300/100, 100/300, 5k medical, my total comes out to $788/6 mo... not too bad.
Not really - you see in Ireland we got lots of muppets who hurtle around in little cars and cause a lot of accidents. As a result, people in a similar age bracket (me) who drive carefully are subjected to huge premiums. Also the insurance market here is so much smaller than most other countries that higher premiums are needed for companies to make profit.
