Default trip meter gets reset when i remove the key

Hi guys, so i had plenty of issues with my original instrument cluster. I managed to get another one, all works fine, except for a single thing. The trip meter gets reset when i remove the key from the ignition. Its not a major issue, but i would like to fix it. Is there some kind of battery inside the instrument cluster that keeps power when the ignition if off?

Normally the are capacitors inside the cluster, see here http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/dash...dash_caps.html
sometimes also the area under the push bottom for the reset of the day trip is oxidized or the pin is stuck.
Older clusters like from E28 still had real batteries inside and they leaked and destroyed the board.
As far as I know only the E34 EURO version Low cluster = without check control (02/1988 - 08/1990 - 520i, 524td - maker: Motometer) had 2 batteries inside , all others have capacitors, see here, the first version is the one with the 2 batteries

Thx, no mine is the VDO with the check control. So no batteries. I had already replaced the caps on my other cluster, so i guess i will salvage those and swap them into this one. Will also check about the push button, since they seem to be a bit stuck.
