    Default mb40 into mb30 e34 Swap the thing

    looks to be simple, not sure in a driveway tho. I always hated the limp power of this 3.0 since I got it. Looking at cams, timing, intake mods and all I got it it don't turn on till 3600rpm. This is with a 3:64 rear gear, car still limp as a bad drunk. Nikky was a turn on, she was fun and take on anything on the freeway... this thing is a slug.

    Bought a 540 donor trans wigged. Will try to revive the trans since a low tire can trigger the trans code. I do think it is bad tho. Never know, might use the existing 5hp18 temporarily. Nothing definitive yet.

    I am lost as bad as a lost soldier right now. Some say it can be done as well as some say time bomb of the trans.

    530 is 160 kw @ 290nm
    540 is 210 kw @ 400nm
    530 @ 215hp @ 214 LB Torque
    540 @ 282hp @ 295 LB Torque

    5HP18 rated @ 310Nm (228 LB Torque) (Converted)?

    if you want a getrag 420 from one of my dead 540's that could be arranged... thing was fine when the diff fell out a couple of years ago.. clutch and flywheel were still ok too.

    Well well I myself have never done the total removal before I am aware that people have on another BMW for him I think pretty extensively discussed how to get the pedal set the transmission bracket the driveshaft with the center link all you need I think To do a auto to manual swap in any 34 so bad in mind keep it in the back him on the car sitting in a field in New Hampshire rotting away

    That is just sad. Read the worst part is the peddle swap but I cant see it being so. I have never done this so can only imagine the complexity of peddles, clutch servo, linkages, shifter linkages and brackets, driveshaft and differential swaps along with the output shafts which I have everything but the manual items. Exempt is the manual trans control unit.

    I think I can use the 530 ECU with the 5hp18 but do I want a self destruction box? NO. The benefit of the 5HP18 chip is it kills the engine between shifts. The guy that made chips for us for the 530 blew every trans that it was installed in. I experienced it part throttle and it was like a 10 lb hammer kicking into second and a 20 lb hammer into 3rd. Need to see if this auto trans is dead before I do anything.

    The body is unbelievable straight, pass door lower rust which could be replaced for cheap and painted along with the whole car intact. Needs front lower spoiler and rear bumper and another good to go vehicle. Still debating why I bought this except the quietness of the engine.

    Not sure of anything right now.

    Manual swap with the GR 420 and a 323 rear gear would show a lot of love. Still looking into this trans error thing.
