So for the V8 M60B40 (3.0 and 4.0) in e32 and e34 there are 2 different Bosch Motronic 3.3 ECUs,

S.I. 120994(4132) ECU: #12141427162 (early DWA)
S.I. 120695(4258) ECU: #12141429145 (With column-mounted DWA module and rolling code initiated by a special transponder chip in the vehicle ignition key)

I forget, what does the S.I Reference indicate? Service indicator? Is it the number of the chip in the instrument cluster?

The V8s have 2 chips, the 3.0 will not shift properly with the 4.0 chip... Believe me.

You mean cluster chips, right? No wait, surely you mean the ECU's Eprom. but it has nothing on it to do with the trans... errr (ok, now I'm confused)!
