Default M20 Cold Start Issue and stomp test

    Full disclosure.. this is a 1989 e30 325is m20b25 motor.
    I can't get a stomp test result.
Question 1...Does the TPS have to hit WOT and then close 5x in moderately rapid succession to activate the stomp test results?
Question 2..Does this indicate the TPS is not working properly?
Question 3...If the TPS is not working properly, is this a probable reason the car runs poorly on a cold (0 degrees F) day?
Question 4...Is this the same situation that a late 80's 525i with an M20 motor would have? i.e. same ECU?

The car smells like it's loading up with extra fuel.
Once the car finally warms up it runs reasonably well.
I plan on cleaning the Idle Control Valve just to be sure.
We've only had 3 days this cold so far this winter all in the last week so this situation hasn't been an issue until now.
I've posted on an e30 forum but you get lots of useless kid-answers from Southern California where 60 degrees is a cold day.

Sometimes the stomp test is just a PITA. To do mine it has to hit the floor 5 times very quickly. On mine it does not have to come all the way back up. Your results may vary. I think the TPS will either work or not work, weather should not make any difference.

Michigan weather, I do not miss it. They just salted the back roads here (E. TN) so I put my winter tires on just incase.

Definetely clean your ICV first thing. At least make sure it turns all the way freely, that will cause it to run rich if it's sticking. The injectors are providing enough fuel but the ICV not opening will not allow enough air.

Do you know if you have to hit WOT to make a stomp test work? I suspect the throttle cable needs adjusting in addition to all of the above.
Thanks. Enjoy the wiggly roads in E. TN. I ran up there from NC a time or two on sales calls.

It has to go to the floor, at the bottom you can feel what seems to be a button/switch or something. I don't think the cable has anything to do with it.
