My door panel door panel chrome trim (at the top of the door panel where it meets window) is deteriorating and would like to replace. Can get replacements at Bav Auto but costs about $145/door. Any alternative vendors that are more reasonable?

I covered mine in mat black exterior trim tape a couple of years ago. Still looks fine.

You sure it's not just oxidized aluminum?
Bavauto or classic trim coat sell kits to redo those at $50-60.

Don't think it's aluminum. Tried to clean it but got nowhere. Will give it another shot. Thanks for the response. Should be aluminum given the quoted price on replacements at Bav Auto.
Like ahlem said ,its oxidized aluminum, actually i think its aluminum with a clear coat over it . There are a number of companies that sell a polishing kit to redo it..
First you have to strip off the clear coat and then polish the strip, the drawback is that once you've done that the polished aluminum will tarnish fairly quickly unless you clear coat it again.
