Default finally had a look at my SLS!

Ok, so i finally got keen and jacked up the old battleaxe to check out the SLS system (as the self level warning light is continuously coming on) one accumulator seems to be leaking, shocks are both leak free. but on the Diff housing support i found a steel fluid line (assuming for SLS?) blocked off and cable tied to it... i have taken a photo, albeit not the greatest, but without a hoist i'm paranoid about getting under such a big car, even with stands.

What do you guys think?? has anyone seen anything like this before???

    Cheers
    Tasha :P

that is difficult to see, but I assume it is not a steel line but either the rod for the LAD regulating valve or the lever for the switch which gives you the alarm.
I have here some old pics from 2006 where you can see all these parts, from an E32 750, but basically all the same
In the 3rd last pic you can see the switch and the lever, on the right side = passenger side of the car on left hand drive on rear axle
    the Rear Axle Work :-)

LAD regulating valve linkage you can see here Welcome to Bryan Borough Website

If it is a fluid line then I would guess that someone has tried to bypass your SLS for whatever reason. I am pretty sure that the line needs to circulate back to the pump and not just plugged. I do not know how to make the SLS light go out when bypassed.

I think the question at this point is whether the car has been converted to Non-SLS setup... this means new different spring and standard HD struts.

It has Bilstein's in the rear, without taking the wheels off i cant get the part number off them, so after i get a bit of work done on my Datsun today, ill do it.
The passenger side accumulator doesnt have any leaks, only drivers side, so im hoping its the only issue... I like the idea of it, it would b great to chuck all our race stuff in the back and be able to get out of the driveway without scrapage..lol

There are 3 wires on the passenger side near the rear wishbone on the top where the switch is. One wire is green, the other two are either black or brown. Connect the 2 black wires and leave the green one taped up. Done

Then your car has had the SLSD removed. OEM struts on SLS/LAD cars are Boges (Sashs), I don't think Bilstein ever made these components for BMW. What's the news - have you been able to sort something out?

Still havnt had a chance to get it on a hoist to look at it properly, but if there wasn't a bilstein option for SLS then that solves half of it. Maybe the bilsteins have just sagged...?!?
