Default Replacement ground strap too long?

I replaced my ground strap with the part here#16. The part I replaced it with was like 3 inches longer than the one I had on the car and it kind of bulges out a bit. The strap connects the frame to the right engine mount. Is this the right part?

My searching turns up only 2 engine straps for the e34 m60b40, the other being between the body and the hood.

As long as its not in danger of being broken or caught in some moving part you are fine. It may have been redesigned to eliminate a stress point where it previously had to bend too sharply or perhaps just a consolidation of replacement parts where the longer strap fits more vehicles.

How much was that ground strap and where? I didn't change mine yet.

On my car it's item #16: here.

The part is located between the body and the right engine mount.

I paid around $20 at PelicanParts for it.
