Default A/C and Horn Fail... Together!

A week or two ago, I replaced the sword since my fan wouldn't turn on. Sure enough, things worked like a champ. Nice cold air!

Then, a few days ago, I noticed that both my air conditioning and horn failed simultaneously! The blower fires up fine, but just blows warm air. I do not hear the compressor "click on" when engaged. Likewise, the horn does ... well ... nothing .

I can't imagine these two are connected, but who knows? In order to replace the sword, I did have to disconnect a few cables behind the glove box. Could one of them have gone bad?

I did spot-check the fuses, nothing looks burned out.

    Any ideas? Thanks,

I would scan the engine compartment on the passenger side. I believe the wiring harness that runs along the front passenger wheel arch houses power for both the horns and the compressor clutch. You might have to move the washer fluid reservoir to find it. See if some animal nibbled a hole or something.

I dealt with this same issue a few weeks ago on my 1989 535i. Locate main fuse box. Replace fuse #9 - 15 amps.

Once again, this forum proves that it's worth it's weight in gold! After driving around for six hours in the summer heat, I replaced the fuse and have a functioning horn and air conditioner.

Thank you both for your suggestions!!
