E34 540i master cylinder replacement

Guys, I searched the forum first and came up empty. has anyone done a writeup on this? how the F are you supposed to get the master out? seems like they shoe-horned the V8 in there and thought about the master/ booster last?

Correct, the masters for the 6's would not allow access so they frankensteined this contraption in there. I'll see if I can find something for you in a bit.

No need for the write-up. Look for the write-up of how to remove the headlight instead. If the driver side headlight is gone and you still don't know how to remove the master bring your car to an indie or the dealer. You don't know how to wrench.

Ding! The old headlight removal trick. Did that with the 850 but haven't needed to do the 530.

yeah, I had to remove the headlight and then it was a snap. I was just wondering if anyone had a shortcut from that...but I guess there isn't one. Glad I can still wrench

Yeah, the left one has to come out for some stuff, it always looks really weird sans headlight bucket:
