Default Record time for front shocks swap?

My hat is off to the local auto skills center (Pulaski, K-Town Germany). I strolled in at 1000 and drove away at 1400, $24 lighter for lift bay use and with new shocks on the front end.

Took me four hours, which included time walking around getting the air gun and being shown how to use the wall-moutned spring compressor.

So my personal record (hopefully won't be doing this again soon) is two hours per side, start to finish (swept and mopped bay and driving away).

    What's your's?

    Brian

P.S. I'm a bad boy as I reused the bump stops as the new ones wouldn't allow me room to reassemble the bearing onto the strut!

Rears about 30 minutes a side, fronts about an hour, depending on how knackered the collar nut is... can take several hours a side if it's being difficult and I don't have cutting discs for the dremel in stock.

1 hour per front corner, 30min per rear corner.

That's pretty cool to be able to rent shop bay... That doesn't exist in USA. What process does it take to rent the bay? Insurance? Liability waiver? Training to use the lift? I am curious.

Joining the U.S. military! Most bases have an auto skills center of some sort. The bigger bases have the nicer facilities...

I show my ID card, sign a statement that I'm not using the place to get rich working on other folks' cars, and away I go.

I dont think thats slow. It probably takes me an hour to get all the kit out and put it away again. Then you have to have a cig and a cup of tea after each side. Wrestling on the floor with the spring compressor takes some time. And if it lets go you have to chase it down the garden.....

No way they are just bragging . 2-3 hours a side for me on the front. I like to take my time and make sure everything is torqued properly. Plus when it comes to compressing springs I am always careful. I have a wife and 2 sons to take care of and I can't do that missing a arm or half a head
