Default low power around 2000-2500 rpm??

It seems i have low power around 2000-2500 rpm per my butt dyno. Then around 3000-3500 rpm the vanos seems to kick in and runs strong for a m50.
Plugs have about 12,000 miles, recent ox sensor change, knock sensors and air filter etc.

It almost seems as if there is a miss, just hard to tell. No apparent codes. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

I think that is the typical VANOS problem... do a search on this topic.

I agree. From what I've read, the VANOS activates (i.e. piston is energised) when the car is started (i.e. tick over) and and is de-activated at ~3000k rpm. So if your VANOS seals are not working, then it would feel like a power hole below ~3000k rpm. That's how mine feels anyway and I think I need to replace my seal.

Would heavier oil have an impact on worn vanos seals. Make them seal tighter? Just a thought?

Thanks, I know there are at least two providers. One for seals, the other for vanos replacemnt. Both are beyond my skills if you need to do all as shown on their web sites.

Need to call my indy to see what their charge would be for labor.
    Thanks,
