I'd say yes. I've done similar thing the other day. installed my E34/540i fuel pump on an E32/735i to see if the problem on the 735 would be solved and it did the job.
Anyone know if I can slap the fuel pump out of my 9/95 build 540 M-Sport into a 6/94 build 525iT to test a possible fueling issue in the Touring?
As is currently being discussed in my other thread on the dieing Touring it might be a fuel pump issue. Don't have a used fuel pump from a 525 around to test the theory, but do have the pump in my M-Sport. And other than it needing a new MAF the M-Sport runs great so I'm sure it's fuel pump is perfectly ok.

I don't think there is a distinction. If there is I used it interchangeably without noticing a difference. I have both cars.
