    Default General Module removal procedures

    Folks,

I am totally frustrated with trying to get my GM and RM out of the bracket!

I went so far as to undo the bracket from the car, in the vain attempt to release the modules from underneath the bracket, but no dice.

I've searched here and on the interwebs for DIY articles and the closest I came was the location of the modules (known fact prior to the search) and the tip that 'it's pretty straight forward, takes about 30 minutes to get them out.' Not very helpful...

So do I just pull straight up on the modules and they release? Or is there some hidden handshake deal to make this happen?

    Happy New Year,

    Brian

You can take the whole bracket if you like- it will lift up enough to get a view fr underneath- just need to loosen the 3 10mm plastic chassis nuts holdig it to the floor.

They do just pull up, but if they are stuck there may be corroson on the connectors. You can break the plastic housing/bracket tho, so try to avid this by pushing from below too.

Always disconnect battery beforehand of course...

    Thanks for the reply.

I've gotten that far but haven't succeeded in freeing the modules from the bracket...I want to get the GM out to see about reflowing some solder (intermittent operation of the door locks from the driver's door).

The dealer 'cleaned the contacts' months ago which resulted in a very short time repair. I want to crack the GM open and can't do that with it sitting in the bracket...

So how do I get the GM out of the bracket?

no restrictions that should stop you, should be a pull up/push in affair like plugging in a usb connector. is there any chance that rainwater has gotten into your battery area from floods or such?

So I need to 'man up' and pull the GM out just like a relay?! Will do.

I didn't want to pull like to find out there are locking tabs holding it in like the ECM.

The under seat area looks and smells dry.

    Thanks Ryan,

    Brian

    Default They're out

Thanks to Ryan, the modules are out.

Prying up on one end of the RM got the process going. Once the RM was out of the way, I could grab the GM by the long side and that was all she wrote.
