    Someones already updated wiki:

2009, Dick Denby, of Dick Denby Transport uttered this phrase on the BBC Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show (Tuesday, 1 December) during a discussion on the merits of 83 foot long HGV's. To his credit he did say that perhaps he should not have used said phrase. Jeremy Vine agreed he should not have used it and later apologised to Radio 2 listeners who might have been offended.

Was that about his "super truck" that they won't let him drive anywhere? I thought I saw trucks about that size in Canada, though I don't keep tabs on such things. What a thing to say over the radio.

Yes its a truck but it isnt a new idea, even in the UK. Its been kicking around here for about 40 years:

I saw the mayor of Bristol drive one of Stan Robinson's at a Truckfest about 15 years ago:

I think it may have been a PR stunt but if so what a disaster

I found and read what I could. Which phrase is it that everyone is so upset about?
We have 55' trailers that together with some of the long wheelbase tractors are probably very close to the "super lorries" and double trailer rigs that probably are that long. I wouldn't want to need to control one in a bad situation but we seem to manage.

Controversy has little to do with trucks.

Interesting, but certainly not the most important news of the day.

Oh, didn't see any mention of that.
    Poor choice of words indeed.

No, its not really important and with hindsight maybe I should not have posted it. I was just stunned by how stupid the guy was: If you are going to put your foot in it big time, its wise not to have 13 million people listening
