Default Direct Fit? 3.46 LSD on ebay

The 3.46 LSD is from an e34 520, which i believe had an m50, so this should be a medium case. Can anyone help me on whether or not i will need to change the drive flange (part that connects to driveshaft). And also will this directly bolt in or will I need to swap my cover from my current rearend? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you will have to change the drive flange and it would not surprise me if the drive axles dont bolt up either. The rear cover looks completely different also. I think I would keep an eye out for a LSD for your car as I see them pretty often.

That's a small case diff from the 4 cylinder 520 (M40 I think). Would avoid it if you want a bolt-in swap. Also not sure how it'd hold up to the torque of your M30.

Agreed - The Whiskychaser and I did a direct swap with my diff from an e32 735i so that's an option for you depending on your reasons for the swap It was a piece of cake, all flanges matched perfectly. Otherwise you will want a donor from either a 525i (which will have a higher 'numerical' ratio) or a 535i...

Thanks this sounds like my route to getting my car running as I have blown the drive flange bearing in my open diff.
