interchangeable? Find one part number and paste it in the cross reference, then you have all cars which use the same part numbers

Can someone link me to automatic transmission diagrams for both the e34 and e30? I have a question regarding the orientation of the starter gear(which way is against the engine), spacer and the torque converter mounting plate and what goes on first, second and third. The most urgent need is for a 1989 325is but wondering if parts are interchangable with a 525. I have my engine and trans out of the car all refurbished and shiny and didn't take pictures of that neighborhood when I took them apart. Thanks and sorry for the almost OT post.

Thanks, those illustrations are clearer than realoem. The remaining question is which direction the "flywheel" goes. There is a depression in the center. I assume the depression pushes the "flywheel" away from the crank end. The gear, in section, has a curved side and a straight side where the starter motor would engage. I have both the engine and transmission out and plan on putting them back in this weekend.
