Default Anyone have a 525I Fuel Pump...

    Howdy Folks,

I just came upon a really cheap 89 525i and apparently all it needs is a fuel pump. Anyone have one laying around they want to part with?

buy a new one, around $60 for a new no name is better than a used Bosch

Used ones dry up when they are stored, no one (or almost no one) keeps them in a sealed plastic bag with oil mist.

    Default Cheap!

Wow, that is cheap. I really dont even care that much I was planing on having this car a few months and selling it(and saving it from being parted). I always seem to skip that ebay step on my search for parts..............

I can't believe I spent over $350 for fuel pump. From BMW dealer, it came as complete assembly kit but actually only needed the pump.

Erich, i bought one from these guys for my poor old 535 back when i did a rehab on it last december....It went bad in less than 2 months, first i ended up installing a separate check valve almost immediately which i posted about a while back, then it started stalling randomly and not starting back up unless you let it set for a half hour or so.... didn't make my wife happy when she drove it across town and it happened to her.
So then i bit the bullet and called Patrick at BMA and ordered the OE bosch like i should have in the first place. And now no more problems. I won't even put the ebay ones on customers cars now.

thanks for that info! So not recommened to buy cheap no name pumps.
I recently bought some original Bosch pumps quite cheap from amazom.com, new of course. Much cheaper than any online shop I know.
For example $80 cheaper than Autohaus Arizona which have the Bosch pumps for the E32 750 relatively cheap. As you know the 750 needs two pumps, I saved about $160 with 2 pumps/car. Autohaus has them for about 230$ a piece. Others for more than $300/piece, same Bosch pump but big price differences.
I bought 6 of them immy, for my buddies here too. Here they cost >$400/piece, so even with shipping, import duty and tax I could save a lot.
