hub centric rings

Had a not quite great experience, still lucky

got a flat - was assisted in the changeover by one of the work fitters, the hub centric ring was left on the hub and the spare (which does not require the ring) was pressed on and tightened. a short drive later, with vibration, pulled over. jacked up the car again, loosened the studs wiggled the wheel and re-tightened. i did not remove the wheel which i know as a mistake now. This did not fix the vibration.
when i got the flat re-tyred (could not be repaired) and put back on they noticed the remains of the hub centric ring. the remains of the ring was not re-useable and they said i was lucky not to snap wheel studs and loose the wheel.
Got a price for replacement ring $125 and only as a set of 4. measured it up myself, found it was the exact dimentions of s/s 3" tube. 67mm od 1.6mm wall. 5 min later and an 11mm 'egg ring' fitted.

Those s/s ones would last longer to and be stronger then the alloy ones.

I have them as well on my summer 16" wheels but have never paid more than $20.00 for a set of four and even then thought it was too much. $125.00 is an outrageous price for even ss ones. I used plastic or metal ones. Let me know if you want a cheaper source of these rings.

the $120 was for alloy, not ss. i used s/s because 3" tube was a coincidental exact match for size :-)

I prefer the plastic ones, seems the tire rack ones fit loosely on anything I have aftermarket here.

no way u can snap studs and loose the wheel, even with no rings. they only center the wheel. anyway i think ss is the best ,shold last forever
