530 only has drive in all gears

My wife said our 94 530 auto lost reverse. Found it stays in drive in all gears, P, R and N Took apart shift selector and cleaned it, no help. Disconected battery, no help. Any ideas, thanks

Different trans in the 540,
540 = 5hp-30
530 = 5HP-18

Almost sounds linkage related and not internal. Check the linkage at the shifter and if it looks good check it at the trans. If that's a no go Give Kirt a call for other ideas.

Just went under the car and founf the cable sheared, how hard is that to replace, bentely had nothing about it.
