Default does this plug just unscrew?

aaaargh sorry guys I know I'm a PITA, but I'm afraid I'm going to break this plug. Is it supposed to just unscrewlike a hose attachment or what? If it is, it's stuck on there pretty tight.

Some sob (same sob) has been here before and a tiny piece is broken like all the other plugs on this car, I just know if I do something wrong it will break all over the place.

It is a 7 pin plug attached to the fuel rail, parts 15, 16, 17 here

and I don't know what the heck it does.

That's the O2 sensor connection to the engine harness. You should be glad it is tight. If it is loose the O2 sensor may not have been working correctly.

thanks - I have it, and I had actually checked it! As far as i can tell it only shows how to remove the individual pins from the plug.

So, alt cable looks ok I will run a new starter cable and see...

***- i think the starter is an '88!!!

starter from 1988? Good luck. We disassembled one from our 10/1988 750, the inner parts were made of plastic and had cracks all over. After we removed it, the fell into pieces.

there is a company in the U.K. which has all parts available

aaaaaaaaaaaHAHAHAAAAAA I'm nuts alright but no way I'm talking this b apart.

works perfect but the first time it hesitates it will become useful as a core refund only!

pick up a cheapie spare and hold it as an insurance policy so your current starter will never go bad.

Well I'll write that up properly but I ran a new starter cable and car runs as before... couple o' pics for now, alternator cable looks brand new everywhere!

hope I used the right tape... it shouldn't get that hot in there.

Symptom- After engine becomes warm I don't get enough power to run all accessories especially highbeams, blower motor and rear defrost, but when it is cold I get plenty of charge.

    so far replaced

    battery
    alternator & belt
    D+ terminal ring at alternator
    engine to chassis ground
    chassis to battery ground
    both battery terminals
    both fusible links
unloader relay (I tried the new one in both)
    starter cable

alternator cable looks brand new as do all the other wires in there.

I wonder if the starter could be shorting and drawing power, it has a pretty direct connection and it looks like it has seen better days.

The only other high current thing I can think of as a suspect that I haven't replaced is the ignition wires, as far-fetched as that may seem.

btw I think this is the o2 sensor connector on an m20, not the one I spent 3 hours trying to undo. It's towards the firewall near the big fuse/control box passenger side. I wonder if it should really be just hanging like that.

any opinions or suggestions are welcome!

I already have an insurance policy - something else is wrong with the car. Once I fix it, then the starter will fail.
