Hi Guys,
I have searched and find nothing resembling my query.
This has happened to me twice with the 540i so far, on a cold morning (Cape Town cold = 15 degrees Celsius) the car cranks over and starts perfectly, but the the idle does not stabilize, it merely just slows down until the car cuts out.
As soon as the car warms up a little, it idles normally.
I have not cleaned out the ICV yet, could this be the issue?

Sure, just unplug the engine computer for a little while, then plug it back in.
I know the six cylinder cars' engine computer is in a black box on the right side in front of the fire wall.
Others may suggest undoing the battery (which is a good excuse to clean the terminals) but then you loose your radio settings and what not...

right so i cleaned the entire throttle body and IAC, car idles 100 times better now, the valve didnt even move when i took it out and was black inside.
I also found the cause of the cold start/stop issue, there is an air leak at the back of my intake manifold, I suspect the gasket might be broken, that will be done by the indi shop though.
I will also have belts done at the same time, noticed they are quite cracked up.
