It could be the engine oil leaking from the rear main seal or the ATF leaking from the front seal of the transmission. Either way you will have to remove the transmission to do it. You need a transmission jack to do it.
should I try to fix the leak myself or have it done. It is leaking in the front of the trans where the torque converter is located. Where can I find filters and seals for it. What tools will I need for the job and where to start first. Steps would be cool.

Unless your transmission operates flawlessly, I wouldn't bother.
I just noticed the leak today and the trany does work well. I think it is the input seal. I just don't know how hard it is to drop the trany in this car
the repair shop I go to want's $600 should I do it or them?
the seals are cheap. I am just afraid of getting over my head pulling out the tranny. I have changed a turbo 350 in my 72 Pontiac but that is the only transmission work I have done.
It could be your torque converter leaking. Kind of hard to diagnose until you take it all apart.
