I know it's been done, but not sure what was involved in doing it.
looking at putting the e39 4.4 in my 94 540. would also like to use the manual tranny currently attached,
Good idea? Problems or a walk through.
Quoted 5-6k for motor and trans, shaft and both control modules, pedal kit..

There was a post on bfc on the m60 to m62. I was looking into this very thing as an option when my current engine wears out.
I think the tranny swap is the same as going from auto to 6 speed regardless if it's M60 or M62.

Recovering the parts from a write off, what do i need/ what can i use?
Is the pedal set and clutch cylinder the same as i am converting from auto to manual.
Do i need a new DME / control unit
