Default Can you guess what is missing?

Starting taking out the driveshaft on the 91 735i and noticed there is no flex disk. Is that right? I have one on my 89 535i. Found out the front U is toast but the rest of the bearing are in great shape. Took it down to American Driveline in Dayton Ohio. Guy says they will have the replacement on Monday. $45.00 for installation and the U. Heck of a deal.

While we are at it I need to know what is this sensor on the left side of the autobox? It is leaking fluid. Sorry about the photo quality but, to much stuff around to get a good pic.

Some automatic 535i and 735i cars do not have a flexdisk. Mine does not have one either. As for the "sensor", it looks like the connection point of the transmission harness. Have a look here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...74&hg=24&fg=15

See o-ring #10? That's what is likely causing the leak. While you've got the driveshaft out, consider replacing the final drive output shaft seal. Those tend to weep fluid as well and it makes a mess on the tail of the transmission.

Thanks for the advice. Right now the seal looks good no leaking...but you think I should change it out?

Changing the seal isn't terribly difficult. With the drive shaft out of the way, you'll be one nut away from removing the final drive flange. You do need a deep socket with an OD that will fit into the flange. I located one at Sears that fit my 535i perfectly (I'll dig up the part number if you need it...and if the 735 is the same setup). When I changed my seal, it was showing very little fluid seepage. To me it was easier to do it all in one step rather than drop the exhaust and driveshaft again later. The seal is cheap too. Personally, I'd change it and have the peace of mind that its taken care of in advance. Just my $.02

I have a 32mm socket but I will need to check to see if it fits tomorrow. Will see if I can pick up the seal locally. Thanks
