The reason I feel my shimmy may be in the wheel roundness is that I've tried two types of tires, rotations, and also have well inspected, and replacement of tie rods, steering column nut as mentioned, and bushings (no play in front end from multiple inspections from my veteran E34 specialist). The shimmy is also very even throughout the car, (seats and all right at 55mph). Smooth as silk at ALL other speeds.
I don't want any aftermarket wheels, and not sure what route to take to either correct current wheels or order new originals. Any help appreciated.
Does it change "at all" if you rotate wheels/tires front to back? Idler arm (mine was fine) and center/drag link okay?
Recheck the Collar nut - is it tightened enough? It really does make a big difference. Have you done the steering box adjustment?
Best wishes,
Scott
