Default UK 92 E34 Indicator Problem

Hi folks, putting this one up on a few boards.

    Any thoughts on this one.

Driving home today, indicated/turned left, straighted up, indicator stalk returned to centre but green left arrow on console remained lit.

Continued homeward and noticed in reflections that the front left indicator bulb was also permanently lit.

Got home and both front and rear indicator bulbs remained lit, "even with the ignition turned off" and the car locked !!.

Removed one of the indicator fuses and the front/rear passenger indicator bulbs go out, replace the fuse both come back on.

With fuse in place, moving the indicator stalk for left turn, nothing, move indicator stalk for right turn, green console right arrow blinks once, thats it.

    Any assistance appreciated.

    Regards, Eddie.

The hazard flasher relay would be the first thing I'd check. It's in the front underhood electronics box, I forget which one, Turn on the emergency flashers, feel and listen for which one is doing the flashing.
Give it a bash before spending for a new one.

+1, it's defiently the flasher relay...do yourself a favor and don't go to the dealer to find out how much cause you'll have a heart attack...86.40$

I was lucky when mine burnt (because of a short with the right turn signal pos and neg) that my dad knows a guy that works with old bmw's and had a huge box of relay's and module's....out of maybe 200+ parts, there was only 1 relay he had that matched my part number...

Also give ebay a look with the part number, sometimes you get lucky. Or a local scrapyard

Hi guys, looks like we might be on the right track.

I removed the flasher relay and opened it up, there is a small copper blade on top of one of the coils, this has broken and I assume this is causing an open circuit, which in turn is why the left side indicators are permanently on.

I have attached a piccie, which I hope will show, depends on resolution.

Looking to source another relay at the mo, not from the stealers of course.

    Regards............
