Default WTB: Rear door lock actuator

So I've disassembled my driver's side rear door and removed the actuator. It's producing a grinding noise, as if the gears inside are slipping. Mine is a 1989 535i, which apparently includes an older model actuator that is not easily disassembled.

Anyone have an extra actuator they'd like to sell / part out?

    Thanks!

Gee... that look like an alarm actuator that you can buy anywhere. Insane price for new unit. Have you tried your local euro PAP junkyard?

I am wondering if it is possible to use generic door actuator instead... how many wires in factory hookup? Aftermarket is simple two wires.

Interesting. The factory actuator has at least six wires. No idea what they do. Perhaps one pair signals back that someone has manually pushed the plunger?

Only the front doors and the trunk can lock all 4 doors.

I think the other wires is the deadlock feature. So that's the other two...

The last two is maybe for the alarm... that if you pulled it up, it triggers the alarm.
