    Default After market Alarm

Button on key no longer works, replaced batteries but i think code is lost. quoted 2-4 hours at $130/hr by local stealer to reconfigure...

What is a worthwhile and good operational interface for the existing security system and alarm as an aftermarket alarm. primary requirement is to get the remote central locking working again. the OEM system was always a bit of a whuss as it was infra red and i had to be in front of the car and point it at the rear view mirror where the receiver was.

Suggestions. can have installed or buy and fit myself

I fitted a Keyless entry system I got on ebay, It was a bit of a faff trying to get the deadlocking and full closure to work but got there in the end. I didn;t get an alarm fob with my current car, and figured it was cheaper than buying one and getting it coded.

Personally I think alarms are a waste of space: Lets face it if you hear one going off you assume its a false alarm and ignore it, as does everyone else

Owner's manual shows you how to program the remote to the car. If you have two... you must do them both at the same time or one will deactivate.

    Bump..

    Anyone know the procedure?

What about the Keyless ride new fob option, probably easier, but my fob is part of the key, not seperate. will look funny on re-sale if the buttons on the key does not work??
