Default car is revving by itself!

i have a 92 525i. when i'm stopped, the car will rev itself slightly. my idle rpm is about 8-900 and it goes up to about 1300. it does it every couple of seconds until i put my foot on the gas. anyone ever have this happen to them? what might it be related to? Thanks for any help!!

Default mine did this last week, but its fine this week..

maybe the icv /tps cleaned themselves or maybe a batch of bad gas????try an italian tune up with a fresh tank of gas.

    Default go to....

www.koalamotorsport.com, follow "complementary repair instructions", E34, hunting idle for how to replace the ICV.

The ICV is the idle control valve - the part responsible for a smooth idle.

An italian tune up is slang for going out and running car hard - high rpms basically. Italian tune ups sometimes work for cars that putt around town all day and never have any extended higher RMP run time - help blow the carbon and crud out of the car that often gums ups misc engine parts.

    Hope this helps...
