    Default 95 540i engine tick

When I bought this car at 60,000 with a fairly new engine due to nikasil problem the engine had a slight tick. Sounds like a valve tick but I believe this car has hydrolic valves. I thought this was normal, but I did not have the oportunity to compare it to another 540i. Now at 90,000 the tick is louder. Is this normal??

No tick is normal... have you changed the belts? Sometime it is the belt that causes ticking noises.

I had a ticking sound that was rpm related. My indy dumped some stuff called Wonder Oil into the AC system. It's gone now.

Default Check for a loose spark plug

A loose plug will also make a ticking sound that increases in frequency with increasing RPM.
