Default ABS kicks on too much

My ABS light comes on and stays on and my ABS kicks in very often when I'm braking...more often than not.

Its annoying more than anything and I'm concerned its a safety hazard. What could be wrong?

    also RIP www.bmwe34.net :( :( :(

    What happened to it?

try to clean your abs sensors might just be dirty if still the same you might need to hook it up to the computer to know why ABS is triggering a fault. but usually its just the sensors

In addition to cleaning the ABS sensors, you also might want to check the sensor leads - especially on the front wheels as they're subject to flexing when the car is steered and can develop internal breaks due to metal fatigue. Connect an ohmmeter to the pins in the connector and flex the lead up and down its length. If the ohmmeter spikes, you've found a fault. A pretty good Mercedes tech told me he ran into this problem fairly often in cars 10 years and older.
