    Default Rear centre vent retrofit

    Hi All,

I've just installed a rear centre console vent kit to my car. If anyone is interested in this mod (some UK owners perhaps?) then I could post a quick descriptive & post some helpful pics too!

    Cheers,

    Shaun M

On the UK 520iSE you get this oddments tray.

    Cheers,

Here's a pic of my new vents. Not so easy to install I like them better than the tray that was there before.

It's also a good pic showing off my OBC & digital dash retrofit, and my shorter than short gearshift!

    Cheers,

    :o

Are the 520i's not fitted with rear vents as standard? Just a blanking plate or something?

    Are they working?

You can also get a plate with lighter for the one under your vents..

I got it, but theres no cables for it when its a e34 without it from original. So mine is there but not working..

Hah Dave! Tranny mounts are spot on bud - I cut that E30 shift as short as humanly possible, giving the short gearshift & short throw - I love it!

Yes they work just fine, after I knocked out the baffles under the air fan blower box thingy. I could fit a rear lighter socket and solder/splice some suitable guage cable from the front socket wires. This will give two sockets protected by 1 fuse. Shouldn't be a problem if using only low power items (chargers, sat nav etc).

    Cheers,

The knobbly bit? It's the controller for the Sony head unit.

Looks like you need new transmission mounts, droopy droors

    Nice jb on the vents,

Default You can wire it directly from the battery

I did this and put in an inline off switch so it does not drain juice when I am parked for a few days at a time. Just takes some skill with a Dremel tool to get the hole perfect and then I Krazy glued it all in place.
