Umm, II is "whiter" than regular Alpine, but I believe III is really pretty much II with clearcoat over it. If the original poster is trying to figure out what he has, he should try looking on the color label under the hood.

(FWIW: this post is really post #5)

They get brighter, i.e. III is brighter than II.

No i'm not trying to find out what i have, i wanted to know because i'll have to repaint mine when i get it. There are only two or three 540s for sale at any given time, most of them silver or black and i havent seen one in alpine white yet but that's what i want. Though they're all autos anyways so i can't get what i want whatever i do, i might just have to bare with another color.

The funny thing is, there are always at least 5-6 M5's for sale on the most popular used car sale site but only 1-2 540's. There's an alpina B10 biturbo too. The M5's are often for cheaper and in better condition too. Would i be better off getting one of those instead? My only concern are replacement parts.

Thanks for the help guys, your help was once again invaluable.

That's good to hear. Though i still don't understand what makes M5's twice as common in Hungary as 540's
