    Default Brake project questions!

i'm going between two brake set ups for my car and would like some input!

The 850i in the front and 540i in the rear
(+ of this set up: Can use my snow tires/wheels, way cheaper!)
    or

Going all out and buying the wilwood kit from UUC
    can be found here: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/
(+of this set up: HUGE braking power)

Now, are they really worth that much?! and will they even fit under my 17in wheels?

    enough

On average how much are the 850i brake w/ caliper and the 540i rear? I cant find the carrier for the caliper anywhere on the internet!

What are your intentions? If tracking the car have you removed weight? Far cheaper and then also less to accelerate.
Either way is a lot of brake for a car that's not too shabby to begin with. On the street a single panic stop would be limited more by tires than brakes on a stock E34 I think. Someone correct me if that's wrong.

The UUC Wilwood setup will clear T-Stars. Rob Levinson posted a pic on the M5 board in the thread about brake kits that showed the Wilwood kit installed with T-Stars. He wasn't sure at that point if their new Alcon kit would clear T-Stars. He figures it will, but I guess fitment hasn't been checked yet.

For a street setup the tires are the bigger part of the package than the brakes. Even 525 brakes are good enough for a good street panic stop if you've got good brakes (I've tried it on a '95 525iT).

For track use the 840Ci/850CSi (not the 850) fronts, 540/M5 rears would be more than enough for a 525. That setup is good enough for a turbo'd 535.

Sure, a UUC Alcon kit would be the best. And their Wilwood kit would be quite nice as well. Just depends on your needs and budget.

Gotta say that my M-Sport (M-Sport's have factory M5 front & rear brakes) stops just fine for most every stop I've had to make. Only once did I wish I had a little more breaking power. And if I change out the ceramic pads I've got on it for even OEM pads that'd fix it.

Also really helps that I've got Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on the car as those have amazing grip.

I track/auto x my car for a hobbie and a lot of fun. Taking weight out of the car with the exception of what i strip off at the event is minimal because i want to keep it a nice daily driver. I don't think you are at all wrong! However, i'm never going to get m5 power out of my engine, and to be honest I don't want too!
I have reverse thinking, bigger brakes = faster imo (in my opinion)

TCD has a decent budget BBK for $1250 for all fours. They are C5 corvette brakes. Super deal.
