Default My OBC LEDs are working again!

Well, I received my car with the back lighting for the onboard computer not working.

Ordered the LEDs from BMW and paid through the neck.

So today I pulled out my radio and after fiddling with the radio, the OBC came back on. Was only a loose connection.

Called BMW and cancelled my order. Will fetch refund tomorrow.

Likely the dealer would have supplied the incorrect bulbs, or has that been fixed on the part system?

I dunno, they wanted to sell me 4x bulbs at an eye watering price!

For many years the films showed the wrong bulb and they would burn out very quickly. Currently the Realoem.com shows it takes four bulbs at around $4 each. But it shows 6.5v 0.8w and I think the correct bulb is 12v 1.2w, just like the E30, and it's less than a buck. As I recall, the display backlight takes two but I thought the key pad lighting only used one. I could be wrong, it's been a long time. Either way, you don't seem to need them now.

That would explain it, but I don't think we ever had the earlier unit in the E34 in the U.S. yet the dealers always sell the wrong bulb because the computer says to. We did, unfortunately, get the BCIII on the E32 but, as I remember, the later head unit was a plug-in upgrade.

(Edit: This was post #8, damn site clock!)
