    Default 1998 528iA

Is it worth buying a '98 528i for about 3.5-4,000 USD?

It's got about 140K, engine seems ok, driver seat bottom panel is all broken i don't know why, trim under rear vents is missing, pass. side mirror needs to be replaced.

the body seems to be in good condition. it's black on black with gray wood trim.

    What do you guys think?

Are you talking about the plastic trim on the side of the seat where the controls are? Have a very good look to be sure the car hasn't been T-boned.
This is suspiciously low money for that car, even with 140k.

it was traded in. older luxury cars don't sell well at my dealer. so the used car manager wants to get rid of it.

the plastic trim where the seat controls are looks like someone was trying to fix something or maybe looking for something under the seat. the car's body looks free from damage

Dealer would say what ever you want hear to sell you a car ! Why this fir tree hanging at the central mirror (bad odour to mask ? Car ever been submerge ? any rust signs ? .... ) To cheap at that price search a bit more for the reason.

Of course the used car manager wants to get rid of it.
Do yourself a BIG favor and have this car inspected by someone who knows them well. Carfax doesn't mean squat, the word of a salesman means even less.
A car ALWAYS speaks for itself... if you listen and are not blinded by wishful thinking.

So I noticed that the driver side door feels soft, as in when you lightly push on the side it saves in a little bit, but on the passenger side of the car is doesn't do that. I do suspect that car had a minor side collision... the frame seems perfectly fine though. Just for knowledge, can anyone run a carfax for:
