Thinking about buying a 1997 328i
Hi, new member to the site. I registered because I'm looking at buying a 1997 328i with 140k on the clock. My main question is what should I look for? What are the problem spots? The previous owner didn't know if the timing chain had been replaced, is that something I should look into doing? I'm very hand w/ tools, I could probably do it myself as long as it doesn't require a lot of specialized tools.
I've also heard good and bad things about BMW reliability. Is this car going to be a money pit? I plan on doing 5k oil changes and keeping the car in good maintenance, but since I'm coming from the Honda world, I don't know much about what to look for when buying a BMW. Thanks!
I am looking also at a 97 328I with 115K miles. Have you received any info about this series BMW?
