Default Driveshaft issue - 92 325iA -Advice Wtd

This car needs a little love. I think I got it cheap enough
to make it a worthwhile project. Got it today.

    1) Car has a driveshaft issue. Basically sounds like
    a helicopter underneath.

What is the procedure to fix or replace the driveshafts?

Is this a job for a dealer or indy or can it be a do-it-yourself?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not exactly sure what that could be. I've heard differentials that sound like jet engines though! If you do need to swap anything out, let me know. I have quite a few automatic parts (diff, driveshaft and even a tranny) from a 325isA if you're interested. Good luck!

If you're not feeling any vibration, like in the seat of your pants, you might find it's only a fallen heat shield. And if it's not that simple, it could be the flex disc (standard transmission) or center bearing. Except for the center bearing, a close visual inspection should determine the cause.

Feeling a vibration along with the noise could mean more serious problems with the driveline.

Just remember, check the simple things first...

Thank you all for the input. The transmission shifts fine. It looks like
the driveshaft support is broken. The car makes a whop-whop sound
when torque is needed to accelerate the car. Looks like I have
to drop the exhaust. Will keep you posted.
