    Default No more chime?

About three weeks ago, I noticed that when I started the engine, the "chime" sound would stutter. It would get half way through a chime, then pause for a second or two, then finish out. Very odd.

I'd been use to it warning me of my Oil Level Sensor (a chronic problem for the past few years), or perhaps leaving the lights on. Now it's just silent. No sound at all, even though the OBC is displaying a warning.

At first I thought it was nice, but is this a sign of electrical problems?

    Thanks,

    Norman

It sounds like the chime has died. i wouldn't worry about complications.
Many find the chime annoying. I wouldn't be surprised if you could swap it for a functioning one.

The usual point of failure is a small 80 ohm -- yes, you read that right, it's EIGHTY ohm, not the usual eight ohm -- speaker inside the gong unit. See below:

The gong unit is mounted to the underside of the dash panel under the steering wheel.

    chime speaker failure.

i suggest you fix the chime, and also fix your oil sensor, because the chime comes pretty handy when your car is without any problems.
