Throwing stars are less commonly known as M System IIs.
Good luck finding them, they're rare. I had a set of naked M Systems (without the throwing star cover). Sometimes I wish I didn't sell them.
Not sure where you can get them.
Hey!
I really like these and i'm planning to get a set. Is there some more official name they go by that would make it easier to find for me? Also, what size do they come in and what tire size do i need? Exactly what years or models used this? Can i still get them from BMW? About how much do they cost?
Thanks in advance

Disregarding arguments about forged and cast: In general, all the I-beam-style M5 wheels are the same (same part number), only the bolt-on fans are different. You can bolt the Veg-O-matic blade fan (M System-II) on an earlier white-wall turbine-fan wheel if you use shorter bolts, and vice verse. Sadly, just the fan/insert for the "throwing star" (Veg-O-Matic) costs over $125, each. The turbo fan actually cools the brakes better (you knew there had to be some point to it, right?), but it's an acquired visual taste, and it costs over $300...for each wheel! The going price for a full set of M System-IIs used seems to be around $1100 on average. Perfect polished ones go higher, doggy-chewed ones for less. Ebay nearly always has something.

This was the best deal of the century, I wish I had bid on this. I have seen Throwing Stars that look like that have been attacked with a chisel sell for $1800.00 AU (~$1600 US) without tyres. Be prepared to pay through the nose for rims that are not in new conditoin.
