A/C switch and Recirc switch not working...

I tried to fire up the a/c yesterday and the switch would light but would not turn on compressor. This morning I turn the car on and the light comes on and the compressor runs, blows cold. I turned it off and cannot get it to turn back on, also noticed that the recirc switch is not lighting up. Anyone have ideas ?

I had the same problem, worked sometimes, not others - affected both air-con and re-circ switches.

Main dealer diagnosed it as the switch, but they couldn't be bothered to spend time looking properly and were wrong!

Took it to an air-con specialist and they checked over all the wiring and found a dodgy connection right down at the front of the engine compartment around the drivers-side wing (on my RHD car anyway - passenger-side on LHD) There was a connector down there in which the points had corroded badly. They chopped the connector out and hard wired it, worked perfectly afterwards.

Of course, might not be that - but your problem sounds very similar to the one I had.

I would assume that following the wiring from the compressor would lead me to that block as they are mounted on the RH side of the car.

That's what they did - just followed the wiring round until they found the fault.
